Move over Bulletproof Coffee there's a new gut-healing beverage in town, Bulletproof Bone Broth! Don't knock it till you've tried it folks. If you're not currently a fan of blending grass-fed ghee into your hot beverages, now's your chance to open your mind and body to this delicious cocktail of collagen, gelatin, good fats, and inflammation fighters like fresh turmeric and ginger. Trust me, on a rainy (or snowy, as today may have it!) winter day a mug full of this spiced deliciousness is just what the doctor ordered. Think golden milk, but a savory and more satiety inducing version. In all seriousness, drink this beverage and you'll likely avoid seeing your doctor because your immune system will rejoice!
Bulletproof Bone Broth
2 cups of your favorite bone broth (I make my own following this Nom Nom Paleo Instant Pot recipe. Or you can use store bought but make sure it's organic and high quality!)
1 tablespoon grass-fed, pasture raised ghee (Again, I make my own using this technique, it's ridiculously tastier, and often cheaper, than store bought.)
1 inch slice of fresh ginger, peeled
1 inch slice of fresh turmeric, peeled (you can use a teaspoon of powdered if that is all you have)
pinch of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste
*optional 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
1. Heat Bone Broth in a small sauce pot over medium heat till simmering hot.
2. Combine all ingredients in a high powered blender and blitz till frothy and fully incorporated.
3. Serve piping hot in your favorite mug, season with more powdered turmeric for color and flavor if you'd like.
