When you're 30 you do what you want.

November 7, 2016

One of my best friends visited me recently and said something that and inspired me to go ahead and finally start developing this website.  We were sitting around the dinner table talking about our lives and the topic of my upcoming 30th birthday came up.  Let me preface this by saying that I've had zero qualms with turning thirty.  I've always prescribed to Jenna Rink's mantra of, "thirty, flirty, and thriving."  That's so me!  But beyond just feeling sexy as you age, something else that my friend concluded really struck a chord with me.  He said, "When you turn thirty, you do what you want."

So thanks to that great advice from a dear friend, here's Beccalani.com.  This is me at thirty doing what I want!  No more waiting around for the timing to be just right.  No more hemming and hawing over whether or not I could, would, or should write this.  No more fear of not measuring up, or having missed the blogwagon.  I have so many wonderful things to say, share and document, I am thrilled to finally have this platform!

Spoiler alert... you can do what you want at any age.  I hope that me going out on this limb inspires you to do something you've been afraid of.  Although there is a certain je ne sais quoi about being out of my twenties that's helped me tip the "no fucks given" scale.

There are many more facets of this story that bring me to this point.  Don't worry I plan to share them all with you.  But for now, here's a photo of how the sun looked as it rose over the ocean on the morning my 30th birthday.  More on what led me to find this little slice of heaven on the edge of the Yucatán soon to follow.

So here's to life revelations and new adventures! Like Lao Tzu said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."  I just hope mine are often through sand as white and soft as sugar.

Welcome to Beccalani. I'm so glad we're here.
